Who is responsible
The controller for the personal data described here is the seller named on the Imprint page of this site. You can reach the seller at the e-mail address, postal address or phone number given there, including with any question about your data.
Purposes and legal bases
Opening this site: the hosting provider processes the technical data every web request needs (see “This website”). Legal basis: legitimate interest in running a working, secure website (GDPR art. 6(1)(f)).
E-mail sign-up: sending the e-mails you asked for. Legal basis: your consent (art. 6(1)(a)).
Purchases: helping with your order, for example sending a download link again, and keeping the records that tax and accounting law requires. Legal bases: legitimate interest in supporting the buyers of the book (art. 6(1)(f)) and legal obligation (art. 6(1)(c)).
Messages you send: answering them. Legal basis: legitimate interest in replying (art. 6(1)(f)).
This website
This site sets no cookies, uses no analytics or tracking, and loads nothing from other companies’ servers. The fonts, images and files are served from this site itself.
When you open a page, your browser sends the hosting provider the technical data every web request carries, such as your IP address, the page requested, the time and your browser type. The hosting provider may keep this data in server logs for security and operation.
The buy button and the sign-up button take you to pages run by other companies, described below.
Purchases
Purchases are made through Link (Sold through Link, LLC), which acts as merchant of record through Stripe Managed Payments. Link collects your payment and contact details at checkout, processes the payment, handles VAT and sends your receipt, under its own terms and privacy notice. These details are needed to complete a purchase.
Link passes the seller the order data, such as your name, e-mail address and country, and the seller uses it only for the purposes described above. Requests to delete the data Link holds about your purchase go to Link.
The download page you reach after payment sets no cookies and collects nothing beyond the server logs described above.
E-mail sign-up
The e-mails are sent with MailerLite, which processes your data on the seller’s behalf as a processor. The sign-up form opens on a MailerLite page, which may use MailerLite’s own cookies.
You give your e-mail address. Nothing is sent until you confirm it through the link in a confirmation e-mail (double opt-in). MailerLite records when and through which form you signed up and confirmed, including your IP address, so that your consent can be shown later. MailerLite may also record whether an e-mail was opened and which of its links were clicked.
There are two series. Readers of the free sample can sign up for three e-mails over ten days, the last of which describes the full book and its price. Buyers can sign up on the download page for three e-mails over four weeks about the plan in the book, the last of which asks for feedback. Every e-mail has an unsubscribe link.
Giving your address is voluntary. Without it you simply don’t receive the e-mails.
Recipients
Recipients of your data are the hosting provider of this site (technical data of page requests); MailerLite (sign-up and e-mails, as processor); and Link and Stripe (checkout, payment and VAT, under their own terms).
Transfers outside the EU
Some of these providers may process data outside the European Union, for example in the United States. Such transfers are allowed only with a safeguard under the GDPR, such as an adequacy decision of the European Commission or standard contractual clauses. Each provider’s privacy notice describes the safeguards it uses.
Retention
Sign-up data: for as long as you stay subscribed. After you unsubscribe, your address is no longer used for sending. The record of your consent and its withdrawal may be kept for as long as needed to show that the e-mails were sent lawfully.
Order data received from Link: for as long as tax and accounting law requires, and otherwise only as long as needed to help with your purchase.
Messages you send: for as long as needed to deal with your question.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access the data held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict its processing, to receive it in a portable format, and to object to processing based on legitimate interest. To use any of these rights, write to the e-mail address on the Imprint page.
No automated decision-making or profiling takes place.
Withdrawing consent
You can withdraw your consent to the e-mails at any time, through the unsubscribe link in any e-mail or by writing to the seller. It costs nothing. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of e-mails sent before it.
Complaints
You have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the EU country where you live, work, or think your rights were infringed. The authority responsible for the seller, who is established in Slovakia, is the Úrad na ochranu osobných údajov Slovenskej republiky (Office for Personal Data Protection of the Slovak Republic).
